The Gender Policy Journal is a student-run publication at the Harvard Kennedy School that publishes interdisciplinary work on gender policy, gendered power dynamics, and gender-based systems of oppression, including patriarchy and white supremacy. The Gender Policy Journal was originally founded in 2001 as the Women’s Policy Journal and was revived in 2017 after a 5-year hiatus before being re-named in 2021.
Our mission is to:
- Provide a platform for policy analysis and advocacy that aims to identify current issues related to gender, eliminate gendered inequities and outline strategies to respond.
- Center policies that address structural power inequities and seek to uplift those most vulnerable to discrimination and harm, interrogating gender’s intersections with other marginalized identities, including but not limited to race, sexual orientation, class and disability.
- Foster a community for HKS students passionate about gender policy to connect with each other and with gender policy practitioners while growing their skills as editors and writers.
